Student Merits Gold Quill Award

An entry outlining strategic planning and promotion for a special event coordinated by Penn State and the State College Area School District resulted in an IABC Gold Quill Student Award for a College of Communications graduate.

Megan Collins, who graduated in December 2006 with a degree in advertising/public relations, crafted the plan as part of a class while still as student. Her entry focused on the third annual New Faces of an Ancient People Traditional American Indian Powwow.

The award was announced in April. She will be officially honored in June, during the conference of the International Association of Business Communicators in New Orleans.

Gold Quill Awards are the highest level of professional recognition in business communication.
