Jim Jimirro
Jim
Jimirro ('58) is the retired president of National Lampoon. Prior
to his leadership role with National Lampoon, he served as president
and chief executive officer of J2 Communications, a broad-based
media company headquartered in Los Angeles.
He
was the creator and founding president of The Disney Channel as
well as Walt Disney Home Video, the leading manufacturer and distributor
of family home video programming. A member of the College of Communications
Board of Visitors, Jimirro earned his master of arts degree from
Syracuse University in 1959.
As a student at
Penn State, Jimirro was president of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national
leadership honor society. He also was involved with Penn State Thespians,
Penn State Players, WDFM and the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He also
served as spring week chair. From 1961-63, Jimirro was the faculty
adviser of the Thespians.
Jimirro
was named a Distinguished Alumnus by Penn State in 1985.
Jimirro
is a voting member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences,
director emeritus of the Westwood Village Business Improvement District
and of Theatre LA. He is listed in Who’s Who in America.
An
avid music fan, Jimirro travels the world lecturing on the Great
American Songbook, a compilation of the music of Porter, Rodgers
and Berlin, et al. A documentary, "Jim J’s Jukebox,"
is being produced about his lecture series.
