Krishna Jayakar

Krishna Jayakar is an associate professor in the Department of Telecommunications, and teaches telecommunications management and media economics. His research interests include telecommunications policy, intellectual property rights and media economics.

Prof. Jayakar’s research has been published in many journals, including Communications Law and Policy, Telecommunications Policy, Info, Journal of Media Economics and The Information Society. His papers have been presented at numerous academic conferences, with several winning top honors in paper competitions. Recently, he received the 2002 Deans’ Award for Excellence in Teaching and the 2004 Deans’ Award for Excellence in Integrated Scholarship.

Prof. Jayakar is serving as the Head of the Media Management and Economics Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) for 2006-07.

Originally from India, he worked as a research officer for the Indian Ministry of Information & Broadcasting where he authored research reports on mass media policy.
