Bunton-Waller Scholarship
The Pennsylvania State University’s Mildred S. Bunton and Calvin H. Waller Undergraduate Fellows Scholarship, previously called the Undergraduate Diversity Scholarship Enhancement, seeks to increase college enrollment of diverse students. Penn State actively pursues programs to help diverse students succeed, and this scholarship was created to minimize the financial hardships that Bunton and Waller faced.

This scholarship offers full in-state college tuition, room and board to twenty-six Pennsylvania residents, and out-of-state tuition to twenty-three non-resident freshmen with a predicted college grade point average of 3.00 or higher. Bunton-Waller Fellows must enroll at the University Park campus and live in Pennypacker Hall to receive the scholarship.

The College of Communications will award three Bunton-Waller Undergraduate Fellows Scholarships each year. The Bunton-Waller Undergraduate Fellows Scholarship attracts students from diverse cultures who have demonstrated academic potential to Penn State and will result in a student body that more closely reflects the cultural, racial and ethnic diversity in Pennsylvania and the nation.

Penn State University awards full tuition, room and board to all selected Pennsylvania residents and tuition only to out-of-state students. This scholarship support is available for Fall and Spring Semester of each academic year for up to four years. Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all first-year full-time undergraduate students entering the College of Communications at University Park, who intend to major in Communications. Recipients are encouraged to participate in the College of Communications and campus retention programs as specified by Penn State University.

Eligibility: The student must be a citizen or eligible non-citizen and not be in default of any federal student aid programs. Awards are based on merit. We are encouraging students to apply who’s culture will enhance the racial and ethnic diversity of Penn State University.
