Advising: Film Studies Minor

The joint minor in Film Studies is sponsored by the College of Communications and the College of Liberal Arts and is designed to foster an interdisciplinary community of thinkers interested in study of film. The minor offers an opportunity to learn more about a visual medium that relates in many ways to other fields such as theater, literature, history, philosophy and art. The courses that support the fulfillment of the minor focus on critical, aesthetic and historical studies of film, not on the art of filmmaking.

Requirements for the minor:
In addition to two basic required core courses (6 credits), students enrolled in the minor will take 12 Credits from a list approved by the Interdepartmental Film Studies Committee. Six of these credits must be at the 400 level. All required and most supporting courses are taught in English. A grade of C or better is required for all courses in the minor.
